DC Plans Justice League Classified

Grant Morrison’s long-awaited return to JLA will come as an arc in Justice League Classified, a new title. The book will feature rotating arcs, much like JLA, but these arcs will take place during various periods of the team’s history.Morrison may be scripting more than one of these arcs, and at at least one of those will be illustrated by Ed McGuinness (the original artist of Superman / Batman).

I Can’t Believe It’s Not Justice League, the mini-series sequel to Formerly Known as the Justice League, may be folded into the series. Reportedly, artist Kevin Maguire has so far completed three issues.

Justice League Classified would enter the market as the newest member of the Justice League family of titles, which also includes JLA and Justice League Elite, as well as various specials and mini-series — not to mention related titles such as JSA and Superman / Batman.

JLA will continue its rotating creators format, with Kurt Busiek coming aboard in #107 for a longer arc. Reportedly, group editor Mike Carlin has the next three years or so of the title already mapped out in this format — with a fill-in issue scripted by Chuck Austen ready to go in case schedules get botched. One upcoming arc, scripted by Gail Simone and illustrated by Jose Garcia-Lopez, may be folded into Justice League Classified.

All of this was revealed Thursday at the Justice League panel at Comic-Con International, presently being held in San Diego, California.
