WHO DIES IN WEEK 15?!
This isn’t the theory of the week, rather a small thought or two on who dies next week.
“Written by Geoff Johns, Grant Morrison, Greg Rucka, Mark Waid; Breakdowns by Keith Giffen; Art by various; Backup feature by Waid and various; Covers by J.G. Jones
It’s the death you never expected in WEEK 15, featuring art by Shawn Moll and Tom Nguyen! Plus, the origin of Metamorpho by Waid and Eric Powell (The Goon)!
52: A year without Superman; a year without Batman; a year without Wonder Woman…but not a year without heroes.”
The death you never expected. Since Ralph’s journey moves into the world of magic I think it’s safe to say that this death won’t be of one of the major characters. Rather this death will be the reveal that one of the DC magic characters is dead, has been dead and it was never common knowledge, or perhaps Ralph must die to enter their world. WHO KNOWS!…..The Phantom Stranger? He probably does.
ON TO THE THEORY OF THE WEEK!
WHO ARE THE 52?
THEORY 2: Alterations
This theory is inspired by a comment made by a unidentified person at the 2006 San Diego Comic Con (if you know what the person’s name was please tell me).
Mr./Mrs. X: The characters altered in Infinite Crisis?
Greg Rucka: Yummy. (His response was more along the lines of hmmmm)
Perhaps the 52 are the 52 characters who have been changed.
But since that is so focal on just characters, it is important to note that history/continuity was altered.
Therefor I will examine the possibility of the 52 being all sorts of alterations to the DCU.
It could be deaths, resurrections, history changes, character changes, who knows.
Which brings us to this weeks theory…
The following uses my knowledge and Wikipedia (which I will trust as the closest thing to hard evidence)
Deaths: Impossible! There are way way over 52 characters who died during the actual crisis, not to mention the lead up to Infinite Crisis! DEBUNKED!
Resurrections: Possible. Though there are nowhere near 52 confirmed resurrections due to the crisis as of yet, seeing that resurrection is currently playing a major role in the story of 52, and well there’s still tons of weeks left….this could be quite possible. Though I think it’s rather unlikely, like Rucka said “Ted Kord is dead!”
Altered Characters: Quite Possible. Not how many alterations were made, but based on the number of characters who are known to have had one or more alteration this seems quite likely.
Alterations Made to the DCU: Hurm. Not counting deaths that occurred during or in the lead up to the crisis. Not counting “natural” resurrections (I.E. Crispus Allen becomes The Spectre). This could be the 52. I count about 31 events that I would consider to be acceptable to this group.
No matter what type of alteration, I think it’s safe to say we all know the real reason behind them.
“That was the sound of Mark punching the continuity wall.”
