Even though Curing the Postmodern Blues: Reading Grant Morrison and Chris Weston’s The Filth in the 21st Century isn’t a graphic novel, the legendary taste-making newspaper The Village Voice named it one of the best graphic novels of 2013! (Who are we to complain?!)
Written by Tom Shapira, Curing the Postmodern Blues explores Morrison and Weston’s psychedelic, mystifying masterpiece with clear and clever analysis. On top of that, we were able to get both Morrison and Weston (plus inker Gary Erskine) to give exclusive interviews for the back of the book. (Weston even provided some exclusive, never-before-seen art, including a non-censored version of a piece that DC / Vertigo only published in censored form!)
We’re so proud of the book and massively gratified that it’s getting the national attention it deserves! You can view the newspaper’s “Best of” list in a slideshow version or article version.
Isn’t it kind of meta that The Village Voice confuses what a graphic novel is by naming a book about graphic novels in post modernism as the best “graphic novel” of the year?
Am I right people?!
LOL. Perfect, Stuart!
I would guess that The Village Voice wanted to give our book a shout out, and it fit best with graphic novels. So there’s 11 there — 10 graphic novels and a book about them. Makes sense to me.
