Wolverine Film Gets Date
The upcoming Wolverine film, from 20th Century Fox, now has an official title and release date.
The scheduled release date is 1 May 2009. This falls on the first official weekend of summer.
As for the title, it’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. As the title suggests, the film deals with Wolverine’s early years. It features a younger version of William Stryker, seen in X2 as having been in charge of the Weapon X project.
The film is set to begin shooting later this year in Australia, then move to New Zealand and then to New Orleans.
The film stars Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and is directed by Gavin Hood.
Variety has speculated that the scheduled shooting in New Orleans might mean the inclusion of Gambit. Other mutants will also be featured, including some seen in previous films and some not yet seen on film.
