The Authority #22) began the final Millar storyline with the title’s stars, as the issue’s contents would reveal, already dead. This shocking and abrupt move thrilled readers, but these opening words would prove ironic:
The Authority by Millar and Quitely would not last forever; indeed, should be appreciated because, like its characters’ exalted state, it could end at any moment. As 11 September 2001 would show the nation, there are no such guarantees.
