- Hal Jordan visits Oa and gets another ring from the last Guardian, who rides a motorcycle
- Jordan gives the new ring to Stewart in prison, but Stewart denies it until he is savagely beaten
- Stewart breaks out of jail and joins anti-apartheid revolutionaries who turn out to promote indiscriminate violence
- Superman speaks with Hal Jordan, who intercedes with Stewart
- confronted by Jordan, Stewart has a change of heart and goes into space
