“White Fire”
- written by Simon Furman
- art by Cam Smith
- continues from “Shadow of Evil” (Transformers U.K. Vol. 1 #253)
- as the Autobots prepare to gun Rodimus Prime down, they notice he’s fighting back and subdue him instead
- as Rodimus Prime prepares to cleanse the Matrix and purge it of Unicron, Kup tears the Matrix from Rodimus Prime’s chest, restoring him to normal but also costing them the chance to destroy Unicron forever
- this is the final appearance of the future-based characters in the series, although “Aspects of Evil!” revealed that Unicron would return later in 2010, possessing Rodimus Prime again, reforming his body, and demolishing much of Cybertron (that same story revealed that Rodimus Prime in 2356 was still battling Unicron’s infection of the Matrix)
- although this future-based storyline was never resolved, the idea of a corrupted Matrix was key to “Deathbringer” (Transformers U.K. Vol. 1 #235-236) and the upcoming “Matrix Quest” storyline, both set in the present day
“Yesterday’s Heroes!, Part 3″
- reprints the final third of Transformers Vol. 1 #60
