Moore LoveIn 1988 Alan Moore wrote an epic poem about the history of gay culture entitled The Mirror of Love. Now, 16 years later, Top Shelf has just released a beautiful edition of the epic. This time the poem is accompanied by some amazing photos by Jose Villarrubia (you have to see them to know what I mean). The poem was partly inspired by Moore’s relationship with his wife at the time and their girlfriend. Yes, their girlfriend. It was, according to Moore, a very serious attempt at a 3-way relationship. The book should be quite a coffee table conversation piece considering American politics these days.
Good News? Well, At Least it’s Not Bad News
It has been announced that Raven House has been turned into a mini-series so that Mike Perkins, artist for Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, can resume his duties on Kiss when Raven House is completed. It almost seems as if CrossGen has burned so many bridges that Perkins is the only artist left.
Also, CrossGen has surprisingly announced a new series called Monster Rally. Another horror series, Rally will launch some months after the beginning of Raven House so the two won’t make readers torn about which CrossGen horror book to pick up.
And finally, the Sojourn / Lady Death mini is not dead. It has merely been put on hold due to a hand injury that George Perez has sustained. It should see daylight in early July.
News Blips
- Everyone’s favorite Cajun (how many Cajuns do you really know, though?) is getting another try at an ongoing. It will, at least at first, be centered in and around New Orleans. It will feature the ace-wielding stud along with a slew of different personalities from the Thieves’ Guild that will rotate in and out of story arcs. Look for the series to debut in September.
- If you care, Marvel has just pulled itself out of debt stemming the shocking claim of bankruptcy made in 1998.
- This July, Jerry Ordway will return to some familiar territory. He will do two issues of JSA starting with issue #63.
- Speaking of CrossGen horror books, Tony (Route 666) Bedard has just been tapped by Avatar to pen a new horror series that is due out in December.
- In an update to the story posted last week on Carmine Infantino’s lawsuit against DC, here is the list of characters that he claims to have created or co-created: Iris West, Wally West, The Turtle, Ralph Dinby, Sue Dinby, Captain Cold, Captain Boomerang, Heat Wave, Trickster, Mirror Master, Gorilla Grodd, Solovar and Gorilla City, Professor Zoom, The Top, Dr. Alchemy, Mr. Element, Mazda, the Heat Master, The Pied Piper, Abra Kadabra, The Weather Wizard, and Paul Gambi. Go get ‘em Carmine!
